The Reel Happy Sting & Swing Band dates back to 1981 at which time the four original members, Dan Cantwell, Bob Miller, Terry Ross and Kim Dominick were performing live in the studios of WDTE in Detroit. About ten minutes prior to air time the host, Judy Donlin, inquired “What’s the name of the band?” Terry Ross came up with the name and spelling “The Reel Happy String Band.” We added “& Swing” a few years later as we were doing a lot of old jazz tunes.
